If you were in the age range of 18-34 in 2015 then you are considered a millennial.

So, what does this mean?

If we paint with a broad brush, it means you are part of a generation that likes instant gratification, technology, and just might not value having a personal relationship with your doctor.

This may not seem like a problem but for your parents and grandparents, it sure is.

The baby boomer generation just doesn’t quite understand how this younger generation doesn’t know their doctor or may not even have a primary care doctor.

It really isn’t that odd, most millennials are on the healthier side and don’t have a deep interest in the healthcare system.Millennials

People frown on millennials because they usually have a phone, computer or some sort of electronic device with them at all times, but those things don’t stop this innovative generation from hitting the gym or taking nutrition into consideration when it comes to eating.

That’s what makes this generation unique, while they are totally dependent on technology and want things right here and right now, they think ahead about long-term health which makes them more concerned with preventive health rather that problem solutions health.

As you may have noticed society is meeting this generations needs with minute clinics, different health care options, and providing fast deliveries on everything.

The idea of preventive care that is natural and noninvasive is where chiropractic care fits this generation perfectly.

Millennials and chiropractors are a perfect match when it comes to taking care of the human body!

Many people are familiar with chiropractic care as spinal adjustments that help with neck and back pain but it can be much more than that. Anymore a lot of chiropractors have physical therapists that work alongside them or they use many physical therapy techniques to aid their patient’s recovery process.

Chiropractors have other techniques and tools they use to help the body heal naturally.

Here are a few of the other methods most people don’t realize chiropractors do to help treat your aches and pains.

  • Heat and cold: Ice is used to numb the area and then heat is used to restore blood flow. Each is used in 10-15 minute cycles.
  • Exercise: Mostly to target muscles that need to be stretched and strengthened to heal correctly.
  • Massage: Soft tissue massages help reduce swelling and improve circulation.
  • Dietary management: Tips on a diet that will help improve your back pain.
  • Ultrasound: The sound waves create a deep heat therapy that helps soft tissues and joints with stiffness and spasms.
  • Hydrotherapy: Temperature control treatments from hot baths to ice baths. It helps reduce sensitivity, numbs areas or improves blood flow depending on the temperature used.
  • Electrical muscle stimulation: During this treatment, electrodes are placed on your skin to send light electrical pulses to your body then to reduce inflammation or muscles spasms.
  • Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulators (TENS): This treat is ubiquitous and allows a low level of electrical stimulation that blocks the pain signals.
  • Traction: The patient lays on the chiropractic table face down, and rollers move over the back. Typically done to stretch the spine, decompress discs and reduce the pressure on nerve roots. Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractors cover so many different aches and pains with personalized treatment plans that appeal to millennials. Their approach to caring for the whole body, mind and spirit is just what most millennials want to hear.

This generation is tired of the one fix for all solution.

They are definitely wanting to avoid the issues prior generations are having to deal with such as drug dependency. Most of their parents are taking medications daily which is fine for fighting diseases or bacterial infections but not good when it comes to everyday pain that could be improved with natural treatment methods.

Holistic Care vs Medical Drugs

Holistic care promotes optimal health and as a result,t prevent disease. The goal is to get patients to take the responsibility of their health into their own hands, which promotes healthy lifestyle changes that will prevent some health issues.

Holistic physicians like chiropractors take in consideration the whole person from medical history, lifestyle, physical exam and lab data. Which is a similar approach to conventional medicine but the treatment method is what makes them so different.Holistic Care

Conventional medicine relies heavily on medication and surgery leaving diet, exercise and lifestyle changes more of their secondary approach.

They tend to focus on curing or mitigated diseases with invasive aggressive approaches.

Conventional medicine eliminates physical symptoms of pain but does not look at the root problem like a chiropractor does. This is why chiropractic care is typically longer lasting and why more millennials prefer this style of treatment.
